Anndore House
The Anndore house wasn't always the hotel you see today. It was once a charming 10 story brick building built in the 1950's. Located in the core of Toronto, steps away from Yorkville, Eaton Centre, theatres and more, the Anndore House is in the perfect location for optimal entertainment.
The exterior of the building offered the perfect backdrop for a quick instagram shot, but it was the inside of the lobby that got me excited. Our check in experience was unlike any other, there was no counter to walk up to, but a small desk with two touch screen computers. Check in was under a minute and we quickly made our way to the 8th floor where we were staying,
The Anndore House offers a few different options when it comes to your stay, you can select a small room (corner king room 325sq feet) or a loft room with a double queen or king (225-300sq feet) The final option (which is where we stayed) is the Master Suite which is 500 square feet, offering both a bedroom and separate living room.
The suite is seriously gorgeous, they maintained the original brick interior in the living room partnered with a vintage record player with a few albums. The suite preserved the original bones of the building showcasing the exposed pipes and other elements.
After shooting the interior of the suite (and maybe a couple outfits) it was time for a coffee. Lucky for us, there is a cafe on site near the lobby called scarlet door. The aesthetic inside is said to be approachable yet rebellious and references the 70-80s seminal punk and new wave scene. The coffee was actually really good for a cafe inside of a hotel, I would actually go in and pick one up even if I wasn't staying at the hotel. They also offered a few pastries and snacks, my favourite was the bombolone.
Located to the right of the scarlet door is Constantine, the hotel's restaurant . Serving distinct cuisine from different regions of the Mediterranean, It offers an intimate and inviting atmosphere paired with delicious food. We ordered about half of the menu, but a couple dishes that really stood out to me was the pear and walnut pizza with speck, arugula and honey and the gnocchi alla Norma with eggplant and whipped ricotta. This was seriously one of the most delicious pasta dishes I have ever had, even the eggplant was incredible (and I usually done like eggplant) Unfortunately due to low lighting, I wasn't able to snap any shots of the food, but it is available on their website along with menu information.
For business, personal and everything in-between, the Anndore House is the perfect hotel located in the core of Toronto. I strongly recommend you book a night, and reserve a dinner at Constantine, you won't be disappointed.
